Church Elders
We have 5 new Elders in the Benefice!!
Elders are lay people, gifted members of our church congregations, who have undertaken a Diocesan training course to equip them for ministry in their respective parishes.
This can range from visiting the housebound and praying with and for them, Reading the lessons in Church, administering the chalice at Holy Communion, and leading Morning and Evening prayer when invited to do so. It is a mixture of liturgical and pastoral duties, when their personal skills can be used to benefit the wider community. Not all them will undertake all the tasks, but our group of 4 parishes is blessed to have 5 of them.
Jane, Linda ( for Campsea Ashe), John, Graeme and Niall were Commissioned by Bishop Clive on July 24th at a service in Hacheston Church, their lovely village hall was then the setting for a celebration which included chocolate cake!.
