The Collect

St John Baptist’s Day

Almighty God, by whose providence thy servant John Baptist was wonderfully born, and sent to prepare the way of thy Son our Saviour, by preaching of repentance; Make us so to follow his doctrine and holy life, that we may truly repent according to his preaching; and after his example constantly speak the truth, boldly rebuke vice, and patiently suffer for the truth’s sake; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Proposed New Ringing Gallery

The new ringing gallery will enable ringers to be part of the congregation and to take a full part in services. Currently ringing takes place in a seperate chamber at the top of a spiral staircase in the tower. The ringing gallery will be a restoration of a 19th gallery that was removed in the 1870's. This is an artists impression of what the new gallery may look like (drawn by Phil Marr).

As well as being the place that ringers stand to ring the bells, the new Gallery will also be a Community Room that can be used by local community groups for meetings and other activities.

The new gallery will cost in the region of £15000 and we are inviting YOU to become a Friend of the Ringing Gallery by donating a small amount each month for a maximum period of two years. If you are interested in this please send us an email to let us know.

So far over £1800 has been promised by Friends.
